How to Prepare Your Home for a Mobile Massage

Booked a mobile massage in Albany, Berkeley, or the East Bay? Here's how to set up your space for the best possible experience. The good news: it doesn't take much. A few simple preparations can transform any room into a spa-quality environment.

Space Requirements

A massage table needs about 6 feet by 3 feet of floor space, plus room for the therapist to move around all sides — so roughly 8 by 6 feet total. A living room, bedroom, or home office all work perfectly. Carolina will set up and take down all equipment, so all you need is the clear floor space.

Temperature and Lighting

Set your thermostat a couple degrees warmer than usual — when you're lying still during a massage, your body temperature drops. Around 72-74°F is ideal. If possible, dim the lights in the room or close the curtains. You don't need candles or ambient music (though they're welcome) — just a calm, comfortable space.

What to Wear (and Not Wear)

Wear whatever is comfortable. You'll be draped with professional linens throughout the massage, with only the area being worked on exposed. Most clients undress to their comfort level — there's no wrong answer. Have a robe or comfortable clothes nearby for after the session.

Before the Session

Avoid eating a heavy meal within an hour of your massage. Drink water beforehand and have a glass ready for afterward. Turn your phone to silent (or better yet, leave it in another room). If you have pets, consider putting them in a separate room to avoid distractions during the session.

After the Session

This is the best part of mobile massage — you're already home. Drink water, rest, and let the effects of the massage deepen. Many clients schedule their mobile sessions for evenings so they can go straight to bed afterward, maximizing the sleep benefits.
